I use to work with fabric, and not familiar with leather tools. Do you have any video or post explaining about the tools??
Hi Artimiza — I also only use heavy duty fabric or leather-like vinyls and never animal hides. But as far as I can remember, the methods are mostly the same. I have never tried to skive my vinyls, but most are too thick for some techniques. Someone said you can skive vinyl IF AND ONLY IF it has no fabric backing. Therefore, it is necessary to use very thin vinyls for certain applications — such as wallets with credit card slots. I tried with a vinyl that was too thick and it didn’t work well. I have never tried edge treatment with my thicker vinyls, but maybe that’s an option.
Maybe others have more insights.
