MemberHello
You mention a product called bondtax in the video which is used when making the strap. Can you please let me know where I can purchase this from. I have tried googling and nothing is coming up when I type in bondtax, bondtack.

MemberHHhi Susan. I know Richard is having a tough time with the site and I don’t think he has seen this because he would have already answered. But so as not to leave you hanging I will try and answer. Bontex (in US, it has other names in other parts of the world) is available through a supplier but you will need about $100 order. The other option is through the store here on site. Linda and Richard made up a bontex kit that has all different types/thicknesses so you can try it as well as see what thicknesses will do what. Unless it has changed dramatically, I recall it having enough to complete the handbag classes through intermediate. That said, he has added alot more content for the new students, so it may not go that far. But you will get a lot of bags out of the kit. For what it’s worth I think it’s the only way to go. I still have some from years ago. They made it a very good deal for the students.

MemberHello Kathi
Thank you for replying. I am from Scotland, UK and new to the Academy and really excited about it. I did notice when browsing through the site that I can’t see the students pictures of their achievements which would have been nice to see what I am working towards. I will wait a few weeks and send Richard a note to see if there is anything I can do to rectify it. I.T is like cars great when they are working. Hopefully not too much of a headache for Richard. I did go onto the shop but the bontex kits are out of stock at the moment so will look again later and again will inform Richard of my interest to purchase.
Have you been with the Academy long? and would be great to see some pics of course works. 🙂

KeymasterHi Susan,
I apologize for not getting back to you! I didn’t received notifications that there was a question posted and I’m glad Kathi was able to respond. Unfortunately years of student bag post were lost due to a corrupted database. But you can view some of our student work in the gallery. Kathi has been with school almost since it’s inception.October 23, 2016 at 11:54 pm #12266Bonnie Stillwell
MemberHi Susan, The site is undergoing a lot of changes at the moment and the notifications haven’t been getting through. I have been a student with Richard and Linda from practically the beginning.
I have found a UK supplier of Texon (Bontex): TR Lawman, Northants. They have supplied me with smallish quantities of stocked sizes in the past. They usually have the T601 in 0.45 and 0.60mm. If they don’t have them in stock the minimum is 500 metres. You can contact Kari.Makinen@trlawman.co.uk
I managed to purchase 100 metres of T601 x o.30mm natural 100 x 150cm. This relates to the thinnest Richard uses for straps. If you are interested I am willing to send some to you at cost price £3.75 (includes the VAT and carriage to me) + the cost of postage to you. Let me know if you are interested I will send as little as one sheet if that is all you want.
Texon is also available from this French shop http://www.mando.fr/renfort/402-renfort-texon.html; also https://bagsupplies.eu/collections/interfacing/products/bontex-texon ( they only have 0.50, 1.00 and 1.50mm)

MemberHi Bonnie
Thank you for this information. I would very much appreciate if you were able to send me a few sheets. My address is 30 John Knox Gardens, Pitcairn, Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland, KY7 6FJ. This should let you calculate the postage. I did manage to purchase some from the internet but it did not mention the thickness when I purchased it so I am not sure I am using the correct thickness so getting some 0.30mm from yourself would help me tremendously.
Thanks Richard, I will take a look at the student gallery. It is always nice to see the other students achievements.
Best regards
Susan Laurenson

MemberHi Susan,
The Academy seems to be changing daily! As the sheets are 1.00 x 1.50 I trim the sheets to 50cm x 1.50m – which is along the bias for straps. I have trimmed 3 sheets for you. They will be £11.25 + £5.00 2nd class or £9.00 1st class postage, you choose. You can pay me by Pay Pal – Bonnie@Baggitz.com
I’ll wait to hear from you.
